Xi’an is the capital city of Shaanxi province. It is the heart of culture, politics, manufacturing and industry in the North Western China.
It has been the capital of some of the well-known reigns including Zhou, Qin, Han, and Tang dynasties for 1152 years (11 century BC to 10 century AD).
Chang’an which is the old name of Xi’an, flourished as the capital of Tang dynasty from 7 to 10 century AD and was made as the model for “Heiankyo” in Japan.
Xi’an is renowned for possessing several historical architectures such as Giant Wild Goose Pagoda, Terracotta Army, and the Blue Dragon Temple where a famous Japanese priest, Kukai used to study. It also has many other famous places such as the Hua qing chi Pond which was the stage for the romantic affair between Emperor Xuanzong of Tang Dynasty and Yang Kuei Fei.
