Important notice regarding marriage registration for foreigners visiting Japan as tourists

　In recent years, there has been an increase in inquiries from foreign tourists who have come to Japan for tourism and want to register their marriage in Nakagyo ward　office.

　However when reviewing a marriage registration between two foreigners who do not have Japanese nationality or reside in Japan, the investigation takes a very long time and it may not be possible to accept it on the same day.

　In addition, for cases that cannot be decided at the ward office, the Kyoto District Legal Affairs Bureau will be consulted to determine whether the notification can be accepted, which may take several weeks to several months.Please note that if you are staying for a short period of time for tourism we may not be able to make a decision on your application during your stay.

　Additionally we can not provide services in languages other than Japanese if you do not speak Japanese, please accompanied by someone who does.

　近年、観光で来日した外国人の方から、「中京区に婚姻届を届出したい」という相談が増加しています。
しかし、日本の国籍がなく、日本在住でない方の外国人同士の婚姻届の審査には、調査に非常に時間がかかり、当日の受理ができないことがあります。

　また、区役所の窓口で判断できない事案については、京都地方法務局に照会の上、届出を受理できるかを決定するため、数週間から数ヶ月かかることもあります。観光で短期間の滞在の場合、滞在期間中に受理決定ができない場合がありますので御了承ください。

　また、戸籍届出の窓口においては日本語以外の言語への対応ができません。日本語が話せない方については、日本語が話せる方の同伴をお願いします。
